Inside
Seeing the camp from the inside, it’s different. Seeing the camp through the eyes of the fellow human beings that are trapped there is something that you cannot forget. It touches your emotions. What does it mean, inside? The hotspot of Samos is a jungle of filthy tents and broken containers where people are treated like animals. Where you have to fight in order to survive. Where you cannot sleep during the night because of the nightmares and panic attacks. It’s a place where the food is disgusting and you have to watch your back: from other people, from the rats, from the snakes. The skin always itches, there is no doctor for everyone, there is no compassion for your pain.
