About Through Our Eyes
Through Our Eyes is a photography project made up of around 200 pictures. All pictures were taken by 39 refugee children, 12 to 17 years old, with disposable cameras. All the photographers attended a photography lab in which they learned how to use a digital camera, how to balance shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. They practiced in portraits, black and white, and street photography. They learned how to take a photo in different lighting conditions, and they studied the work of contemporary photographers. The photography lab was run by Nicoletta Novara, one of the coordinators of Still I Rise, in Mazì.
